This weekend I went on my usual walks around where I live and I saw every bit of grass littered with humans. Some, in groups of two (partners – close together, or friends – like me – socially distanced but together).
The rest were massive groups. There were barbeques, beer cans galore, splifs passed round.
Last night, on a very late night walk around the harbour, there were groups of people raving it up in groups along the river.
Today, the Mound is St Werburghs was insane.
All of the above are very Bristol, indeed…but I shouldn’t be seeing it in this climate.
Fortunately most people I know would, I imagine, utilise their own intelligence and exercise their ‘new lockdown freedom privileges’ with caution. It’s the rest of our country I am concerned with.
The poor direction, ridiculously slow acting and ambiguity (subtle relinquishing of responsibility) from our government should be kept in mind.
The conspiracy theorists must be having a field day right now. I’m not one of them so this opinion is purely based on my observations and concern for our general welfare.
Please, don’t be dicks.
We have one of the highest death rates.
My home country (Bulgaria) imposed strict lockdown rules and follow ups after returnees flew home, and were made to sign documentation that they would strictly self-isolate upon return.
We’re only just starting this?
Presumably we have passed the peak. That’s a great thing eh? What better way to spit in the face of such progress than to pull a random number out your arse (6 people at a time) to increase infection again?
Not much has changed. This isn’t done with and I, personally, will continue to not be a dick and I probably will not be meeting up with large groups of people.
‘Stay alert’ my ass.
Stay focused. Focused on the overarching goal and remember that it isn’t all about you. It’s about our vulnerable, our elderly, our healthcare and yes, finally, us (and some of us fit into the first two aforementioned).
Please tell your children, nephews and nieces that drinking in the park, getting with people and showing off their new outfits are all things they will be doing for years to come. They won’t be robbed of their youth if they miss out a couple more months of (full on) socialising.
I’m ready for carnage to be honest. I hope I’m wrong.
